A dual-programme landmark uniting structured legal academia with an immersive astronomical dome.
A landmark educational complex comprising the College of Law and a public Planetarium, designed to give the University of Benghazi campus a distinct academic identity and state-of-the-art learning facilities.
The two structures respond to complementary spatial needs: The College of Law is disciplined and rhythmic — featuring louvred academic wings around a central courtyard, tiered lecture halls, administrative suites, and a fully equipped moot court. The Planetarium forms a dramatic spherical counterpoint, clad in geometric mashrabiya-inspired patterns.
The planetarium dome features a 360-degree cylindrical concave auditorium designed for seamless immersive projection of celestial mechanics, scientific films, and public exhibitions. MERAAS executed comprehensive structural reinforcement, specialized acoustics, and precision mechanical systems.
